Welcome to Yes You Yoga and Wellness

Hello and welcome to Yes You Yoga and Wellness, an Alabama-based wellness company offering holistic health and wellness services. Our offerings include one-on-one and small group yoga therapy sessions, community-based and private yoga classes, guided meditation and mindfulness sessions, sound baths and vibrational therapy, herbal consultations, and custom trainings, workshops and retreats.
My name is Kim Richardson and I'm the owner and operator of Yes You Yoga and Wellness. I'm a long-time yoga practitioner who decided to become a yoga teacher after I struggled to find an inclusive yoga studio in my city. My passion and goal has always been to create inclusive yoga spaces where people feel welcomed and empowered to pursue their wellness goals. Here's a few highlights I'd like to share about my background and experience:
1) I am a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and have the honor and distinction of being the first African American (and currently only as of the time of this publication) yoga therapist to hold this designation in the State of Alabama. In 2023, I was recognized by IAYT as one of four finalists for their Seva Award in recognition of my work and service in underserved communities
2) I've been teaching yoga since 2018 and I'm a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. I'm a 500-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher), an e-200 RYT (indicating over 1,000 hours of teaching experience), a registered children's yoga teacher (RCYT), a registered prenatal yoga teacher (RPYT), and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).
3) I hold certifications to teach multiple styles of yoga including vinyasa, yin, restorative, chair, yoga for seniors, aquatic, and yoga for cancer. I also have extensive training in accessible yoga practices and trauma informed approaches. I am an Accessible Yoga Ambassador with the Accessible Yoga Association.
4) I have trained extensively as an herbalist with deep knowledge in medicine-making. I've spent the last several years studying with Phyllis Light, a registered herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild, and completed her courses in Friends and Family, Community, and Clinical Herbalism.
5) I have also studied and trained in additional wellness modalities and hold certifications in to teach and offer tantric meditation, sound healing and vibrational therapies, Level 1 Reiki Practitioner, and birth doula services.
6) I currently work as a facilitator for the University of Alabama's (UAB) Arts in Medicine (AIM) Program where I provide yoga therapy services in clinical settings including the Behavioral Health Unit at Children's of Alabama, the Oncology Department at UAB, and the Birmingham VA.
7) I prioritize a community-based model of yoga and wellness that offers yoga and other wellness services in a community-based setting to remove the stigma and barriers associated with practicing in a yoga studio. I lead classes in libraries, community recreation centers, and other similar spaces.
Now that you know a little bit about me, I'd love to connect with you. Feel free to connect with me on IG @yesyouyoga_wellness or you can request to join my Yes You Yoga group on Facebook.
